The Olympic champion concluded her 800m campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday night.

{The current Olympic champion, who earned bronze at the global championships recently, excelled in an impressive victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season impacted by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this year so it was probably less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated Hodgkinson.

"The environment out there is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event packed the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and special crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Previous champions received $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The event also attracted several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, finishing in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, won the sprint double.
