New England Match Longest Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five touchdowns in the present year
New England matched their longest winning run from the Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph extends the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the New York's opening drive
But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the triumph
